Providers
Providers can identify Maryland Health Insurance Plan (MHIP) members by the MHIP logo on the front of the member’s ID card.
MHIP members may have a CareFirst BlueChoice HMO Plan or a BluePreferred PPO Plan with a deductible. To obtain eligibility, benefits and claim information for MHIP members, please use the same methods you currently use for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and CareFirst BlueChoice plans:
- For on-line inquiries, CareFirst Direct is available in the Providers and Physicians section of www.carefirst.com
- To find information by phone, use the FirstLine Voice Response Unit by calling 202-479-6560 or 800-842-5975.
Providers may also contact Provider Services or their Provider Relations Representative for questions about MHIP.
