Overview of MHIP Premiums

Premiums

The Board of Directors for MHIP establishes monthly premiums for MHIP and MHIP Federal.

If you have low or moderate income, you may qualify for reduced premiums through MHIP+. Whether applying for MHIP for the first time or already enrolled, you must complete a separate MHIP+ Application.


Billing and Payment Procedures:

  • MHIP sends members monthly premium invoices.
  • Premiums are due the first of the month for which coverage is provided.
  • Checks should be made payable to "Maryland Health Insurance Plan."
  • Write your member MHIP ID number on your check and include the payment slip from the bottom of the invoice.

Automatic Debit Plan

For your convenience, MHIP offers the opportunity to pay monthly premiums through a direct debit from your checking account. Follow these instructions:

  • Print the Automatic Debit Form.
  • Fill out all required information.
  • Attach a copy of a voided check.
  • Mail both documents to MHIP at the address provided on the form.

Forms must be received by MHIP at least one month prior to the month that you want the automatic debit payment to begin. Automatic debit payments will be withdrawn from your account on or after the 18th of each month.
